Ignacio Romero

Ignacio Romero is Professor of Solid Mechanics in the Mechanical Engineering School of the Technical University of Madrid and Director of IMDEA Materials Institute in Madrid. He obtained his Engineering degree from the Comillas Pontifical University in Madrid in 1995, a M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University in 1997, and a PhD from the University of California in Berkeley in 2001. He has been a Fulbright scholar, a recipient of a "Ramón y Cajal" Grant from the Spanish government, a visiting scholar at the California Institute of Technology, and the 2011 awardee of the Zienkiewicz medal. His research interests include computational nonlinear solid mechanics, nonlinear structural mechanics, and multiscale material modelling. He has published more than 50 peer reviewed articles and book chapters, and participated in over 100 conference talks and invited seminars at universities in Europe and the US.
