Professor Yoshimura serves as Vice President and Professor of the University of Tokyo, IACM Vice President and EC member, APACM Secretary General and EC member, and Member of Science Council of Japan. He received Doctor of Eng. from UTokyo in 1987 and has been working in UTokyo, focusing on High-performance and Intelligent Computational Mechanics with Real World’s Applications for 32 years. Among his wide research activities, the most distinguished and well-recognized achievement is the R&D of the advanced parallel finite element analysis software known as ADVENTURE system since 1997. The ADVENTURE system is very unique open source CAE software that enables very precise analyses of practical structures and machines using over 100 million to billions DOF mesh. Furthermore, he has been developing a general-purpose platform of parallel partitioned coupling techniques with nonlinear iterations, named ADVENTURE_Coupler and REVOCAP_Coupler, which ensure accuracy, parallelefficiency, robustness as well as flexibility. Since January 2015, he has been leading a new national HPC project named FLAGSHIP20220 Priority Issue 6 to extend the simulation system towards Exaflops computer to appear in 2020. He received numerous awards including IACM Fellow Award (2014), APACM CM Award (2013), JACM CM Award (2011), and IEEE/ACM SC06 Gordon Bell Award finalist (2006).
