Takahiro Yamada received the B.Eng. and M.Eng. degrees in architecture and building engineering from Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan in 1986 and 1988, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree in mathematical science from the University of Tokyo, Japan in 1991. He joined Kyushu Institute of Technology, Tokyo Institute of Technology and Tokyo University of Science. Since 2001, he has been with the graduate school of environment and information sciences, Yokohama National University (YNU) where he was an Associate Professor, became a Professor in 2006. He was appointed to a vice-dean of the college of engineering science, YNU from 2013 to 2014. He has been conducting researches in the wide area of computational mechanics. He is active in the development of new finite element schemes and numerical verification procedures of finite element methods in nonlinear solid mechanics. He is currently the president of Japan Society of Computational Science and Engineering (JSCES) and has been one of its board members since 2006. He also has been a General council member of IACM since 2010.
