Technische Universität Dresden

Institute for Structural Analysis

He is director of the Institute for Structural Analysis at Technische Universität Dresden. Before, he held a position as head of the department “Mechanics and Simulation Development” at Continental AG and was appointed Professor of Structural Mechanics at Universität Leipzig. Since 2009, he is Secretary of the International Association of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics (GAMM) and, since 2019, President of the German Association for Computational Mechanics (GACM). He is Dean of the international M.Sc. program "Advanced Computational and Civil Engineering Structural Studies" (ACCESS) at TU Dresden. Moreover, he is member of several editorial boards of international journals. His main focus is on all aspects of structural analysis based on modeling on different length scales including homogenization and coupled fields. The quantification of uncertainties is of special interest. Currently, he is responsible for a national Research Group on Vehicle-Tire-Pavement-Interaction and a national wide Priority Programm on Uncertainty Quantification both sponsored by the German Research Foundation.
